The course is designed for English speakers. As Swiss German and English are very different languages, I will explain most of the concepts in English to help you grasp the main ideas more easily, making your transition to Swiss German smoother and more understandable.
No prior knowledge of the language is required.
This beginners' course is specifically designed for those who are starting from scratch, so it starts with the absolute basics. However, it is also ideal for advanced beginners, as the lessons progressively increase in difficulty.

Fundamentals of Grammar and Language Structure
In this module, students will acquire the essential foundations of Swiss-German, starting with the alphabet and learning the correct pronunciation of specific and distinct sounds. They will learn the fundamental grammatical rules, such as the distinction between singular and plural nouns, and the use of definite and indefinite articles. Additionally, sentence structure and the use of personal pronouns will be explored, providing a solid base for forming simple sentences.

Basic Vocabulary and Useful Phrases
This module focuses on expanding vocabulary through learning common words and essential verbs. Students will learn how to build useful phrases for everyday life, such as expressing hobbies, asking for the time, or talking about numbers and age. They will also be introduced to frequently used questions and answers, providing the tools to communicate in practical, day-to-day situations.

This module delves into the cultural and social aspects of the language, offering an overview of Swiss traditions and celebrations. Students will also discover how to talk about nations and languages, and how to interact in contexts such as work or education.
